The number of Dialysis patients for Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago has been given by senior health care professionals.

The number of patients at stage 1 – 4 of End Stage Kidney Disease for Barbados has been given by a senior health care professional.

The figure for Kidney failure for Trinidad & Tobago has been estimated at almost 50% of the Barbados rate.

All other figures are estimated based on the percentages experienced in Trinidad and Tobago. Using Barbados percentages would almost double the figures.

Kidney Caribbean will be working with the Stakeholders across the region to obtain more accurate numbers.

United Kingdom, Canada and USA are included only for comparison.

Figures for USA, Canada and United Kingdom are taken from various web sites.

Kidney Caribbean accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the figures.

Objectives

  • Educate about Kidney Disease, prevention, treatment, risk conditions, causes, etc.
  • Generate accurate and useful information on Kidney Disease in Barbados and the Caribbean.
  • Promote awareness of Kidney Disease in Barbados and within the Caribbean.
  •  Promote early testing.
  •  Lobby Government for Legislation to allow the use of cadavers in Kidney transplant.
  • Promote and encourage the occurrences of live donors in Kidney transplants.
  • Encourage a healthy life style to reduce the probability and possibility of developing End Stage Renal (Kidney) Failure.
  •  To generate funds to assist with the caring for patients with End Stage Renal (Kidney) Failure.
  • Improve the quality of life for patients with End Stage Renal (Kidney) Failure.
  • To recognise and reward caregivers of patients with End Stage Renal (Kidney) Failure.
